Beat the Devil

In Uncategorized on January 7, 2010 at 6:53 pm

So, I am at Blockheads blog, really dig that blog, not to much of a preteingious point to it. A hopefully fan base to probably push a novel as sir 50 cent. But, its really nice with snipetts of just shit. But, occasionally he gives way to the ears a oppurtunity for really great freaking music. Which in this case is a few movies also.

But most important a punki-badass band, who are they…

Beat the Devil’s Shilpa Ray is a petite powerhouse, roaring and moaning about love, horror and Solomon Grundy in a raw, bluesy alto while pumping atmospheric chords on a harmonium. –The New York Times

Shilpa Ray—let’s call her what she is, New York City’s best frontperson—has added theremin to her harmonium playing, and her vocals remain a killing weapon, a portal to generations of blues singers howling from beyond the grave. — Time Out NY

Beat the Devil is an experience, and from the very first song of their set I was enthralled. The band produced a dark ragtime-punk sound along the lines of a mixture of the spirit of Man Man, a New Orleans funeral procession, Tom Waits, and Billie Holiday. They’re the kind of band that defines what I wish current Lower East Side bands would have the courage to sound like. Not that they could, however, because lead singer Shilpa Ray’s voice is one in a million and the LES has lost pretty much all of its growl. If you long for sultry dark dirgey folk rock that climbs into your mind and never lets go (“wow wow, a WOW WOW”), then this is the band you’ve been waiting for. –EARFARM

Listening to Beat the Devil is like taking your first punch in the face. –Spin.com

There is also a couple of movies, one being a 1941 bogart film called Beat the devil, with a Tony Scott film also (1993). They rock everyone should be a fan…you have three days to comply or else.

Eat Pray Love

In Uncategorized on January 5, 2010 at 3:24 pm

I woke today in pain, regreting my 12 o’colck start today at work, but appricative of my 4pm ending. My main concern is what should I write about and how do I begain. And also writing about how I’m trying to write my novel is apparently not attractive, according to the Nine critics who think if it doesn’t include George, Johnny Depp or some that involves an advancement in cinematography is a waste. So, I can’t really take that shortcut.

Pause.

The sad part is I think I am just trying to find something to commit to, just to hold onto for the next ?? years I am on the beatiful earth.

I shouldn’t write in the mourning.

It took that one chic who wrote Eat Pray Love like six years to just punch out her novel, and I guess I have been on that path for one year seriously. Not a bad start huh?
